George Carl Goode
PINEVILLE - George Carl Goode, 78, of Pineville,
died Sunday, August 18, 2002, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born October 24, 1923, at Itmann, he was the son of the late Walter and Lilly
Meadows Goode. Mr. Goode was of the Nazarene faith and had been a Wyoming
County resident for 27 years. He was a former resident of Speedway and
Alderson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and German POW during World War II. He
worked as an Electronics Technician for Concord College. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Brack Goode; and one sister,
Sena Mullens. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nellie Flesher Goode of
the home; three sons, David Goode of the home, Randy Goode and wife, Wanda, of
Lerona, and Earl "Scott" Goode of Pineville; three daughters, Joyce
Archer and husband, Elmer, of Icard, N.C., Nina Robbins and husband, James, of
Bluewell, and Maggie Blevins and husband, Eugene, of Speedway; three brothers,
Herbert Goode and wife, Mildred, of Ocala, Fla., Lloyd Goode of Longmont,
Colo., and Ray Goode and wife, Sandra, of Miami, Fla.; five sisters, Mary Gunter of Pineville, Dora Johnson and husband, Ralph,
of Pineville, Watsie Hill of Pineville, and Faye Browning and husband, Benny,
of Wytheville, Va.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Service
will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev.
Douglas Shope officiating. Burial will follow in the Goode-Jackson Cemetery at
Jackson Curve, near New Richmond. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at
the funeral home.
