Vaughn "Pat" Hoover

Vaughn D. "Pat" "Pappy" Hoover 95, of Lafayette died in Rosewalk Village Nursing Home at 10:15 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2005. He was born September 14, 1909 in Pennville, IN. He had lived most of his life in Fort Wayne, having also resided in Indianapolis for 10 years and moving to Lafayette in 1989. He married Cleola Roser on May 20, 1932 and she preceded him in February 25, 1993. Mr. Hoover was a 1927 graduate of Pennville High School. He owned and operated Pat and Sally's Tavern in Fort Wayne for 30 years. He enjoyed playing his banjo, fishing, riding his John Deere tractor and playing euchre. Surviving is a son, Dr. James P. "Doc" Hoover (wife, Teresa) of Lafayette. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jeb Conrad, Amy Conrad-Warner, Andy Conrad and Jody Conrad all of Indianapolis and Drake Hoover of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Oscar and Mary Proudy Hoover; a daughter, Mary Lou Conrad and a brother, James Herbert Hoover. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Father Bob Klemme is officiating. Interment is at Twin HillsOdd Fellows Cemetery in Pennville, IN. Memorials may be sent to Ball State University, co Mary Conrad Scholarship Fund.
